Nominee started their own business from the ground up fulfilling a need in the market or community for such a business and has been in business for a minimum of 2 years.
FEMALE MENTOR OR LEADER OF THE YEAR | Sponsored by: CHUCK'S ROADHOUSE
A nominee is a person who provides guidance and/or mentorship for the younger generation of business women and can be a business owner or employee of an establishment. The nominator is encouraged to explain why they believe the nominee has provided mentorship or leadership.
PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS WOMAN OF THE YEAR | Sponsored by: WASAGA BEACH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The nominee is a businesswoman with a professional license or certification for their occupation (i.e. doctor, chiropractor, lawyer, massage therapist, etc.). Nominee in this category provides service excellence in their industry and has been in business for a minimum of 1 year.
TRADES WOMAN OF THE YEAR | Sponsored by: WASAGA AND DISTRICT BUILDERS & CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION
The nominee is either a business owner or employee of an establishment in the trade industry. Examples include electricians, plumbers, HVAC installers, painters, decorators, interior designers, stagers, landscapers, cleaners, etc. Nominee in this category provides quality work in their respective trade and exhibits a professional business attitude.
ECO-FRIENDLY WOMAN OF THE YEAR | Sponsored by: WASAGA BEACH BREWING COMPANY
Nominee is a woman who demonstrates environmentally friendly practices, either in their business or around the community. Nominee is actively looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint and waste, conserve resources and promote sustainability.
SALES WOMAN OF THE YEAR | Sponsored by: WASAGA TAX & ACCOUNTING
The nominee is a business owner or employee in a sales-focused industry. Examples of a nominee are a home-based sales business, car sales person or a marketing sales person. Nominee in this category provides excellent customer service.

SupportHER Ally’s are visible male leaders championing women in their networks, workplaces, and communities. They are actively promoting the rise of leadership for women and visibly SupportHERS. The rise of women is not about the fall of men. Together we are stronger.

This award recognizes an individual whose example is so noteworthy as to inspire others spontaneously. This award is given to a woman who not only embraces her personal ability to create influence for meaningful change but inspires others to embrace their personal ability as well.

The nominee is a business owner and is involved in their community contributing to its growth. Nominee in this category must be a member of the Chamber of Commerce, local to their geographic area and in business for a minimum of 5 years.
YOUNG BUSINESS WOMAN OF THE YEAR | Sponsored by: ALTA VISTA PLANNING PARTNERS INC.
Nominees must be under the age of 39 at the time of nomination and have successfully built their own business or contributed significantly to the success of a female-owned business. The nominee is a role model for the next generation of young businesswomen. Nominees must be in business for a minimum of 12 months.
COMMUNITY SPIRIT AWARD | Sponsored by: THE PEAK 95.1 FM
The nominee is a woman actively involved in their community’s positive growth. Examples of community involvement may include volunteering at a non-profit organization/charity, sitting as a director on the Board of a charitable organization, raising funds for an organization through her business, etc. Nominees do not have to be a business owners.
About This Year’s Event
The Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce celebrates women in business with awards in different categories based on the feedback from the community.
We believe it is important to celebrate women in business as it helps to demonstrate equality and bring awareness to the barriers that women face in the business world. Celebrating women in business and their accomplishments will hopefully inspire future generations of women to continue in the business industry and fight for equality. Businesses around the Wasaga Beach area sponsor these awards.
